Are you missing teeth? Then you may be a great candidate for dental implants! Many patients are eligible for dental implants, and if they aren’t, there are options to help you gain eligibility.
Implants are titanium posts designed to replace the natural tooth roots of missing teeth. They are directly implanted into the jawbone using advanced, computer-guided technology. Implants are made out of titanium because it is a biocompatible material. This means they can permanently fuse with human bone without causing any harm. After the implant procedure is complete, a crown, bridge, or denture can be snapped onto the implant(s).
The main question that comes up when it comes to implant candidacy is jawbone health. Since implants are directly embedded into the jawbone, it must be healthy enough to support the titanium posts. The longer a patient has gone with missing teeth, the more likely it is that they’ve experienced bone loss. If this is the case for you, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t get dental implants. It just means that you’ll need a bone graft to help repair and strengthen your jawbone before implant placement.
Missing teeth can decrease your quality of life. You may feel self-conscious about your smile and your speech, and experience difficulty eating. You can experience anxiety, depression, decreased desire to engage socially, and malnutrition. But you don’t need to settle for gaps in your smile!
